First (2018)

17 years after taking these photographs myself with a camera I believe should be my first, I discovered them again. My father handed me this undeveloped film he found in his desk drawer.

Once developed, I didn’t immediately understand what was on these pictures. After looking at them closely all the memories of that one summer came slowly back to me like a dream; how I’d gotten my first pink plastic analog camera and how I started to capture my family. Some pictures have stains on them that remind me of angels, others show the childlike way of looking at life and the impatience that came with growing up.

The series’ focus foreshadows the theme that is still the foundation of my work to this day: mysteries, memories, stories of the past, and the relationship with my family.
